A Donkey Kong Easter Egg Found 26 Years Later

File this under the "neat things" category. Apparently, the programmer for the Atari 400/800 version of the game Donkey Kong programmed in an Easter Egg that would display his initials if a certain set of goals were attained.

Many years later he revealed that he did this and that he couldn't even remember how to unlock it. This got Mr. Don Hodges interested:

Rumor: Raving Rabbids Invade TMNT Smash Up?

Presently, there's no telling if this one is true, but if it is, I endorse it one-hundred percent.

French website Puissance-Nintendo has a report from the demo of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Smash Up at the Japan Expo in France, but since I can't read nor speak any language that has a dressing named after it (French, Italian, Thousand Island, etc.), I'll have to simply defer to GoNintendo on this one:

"Rumor has it that the most recent demo has two new playable characters, a Rabbid dressed as Sam Fisher, as well as a Rabbid in a cheerleader outfit. Is Ubisoft sneaking Rabbids into the game for a bit of fun? I won't believe it until I see it for myself!"

I have to admit, it sounds too good to be true-- but I hope it is, just the same. But alas, I am greedy, and I would be satisfied merely by this. If they do this, I want the Teenage Mutant Ninja Rabbids, seen at right, to be selectable, too.

I would also find a Miyamoto Usagi tribute to be acceptable.

Media: Tatsunoko vs. Capcom Screens, Commentary, Anime Expo, and Character Voting

Quite a bit of Tatsunoko vs. Capcom fun for you today. We have six, count 'em, six new screens in the gallery for you-- no MegaMan, Viewtiful Joe, or Gold Lightan, but still nice, just the same.

Fortunately, Capcom Community Manager Seth Killian points out that YouTube user/Roll fan(?) Rollisyourmother has a series of videos with "helpful commentary" on "just what exactly is going on when TvC pros go at it." At least MegaMan is here.

Update: Media: Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles - New Trailer and Comic Con Details

Update: Wouldn't you know it? Just after I made my post, Capcom e-mails me with 15 new screenshots from the game. They've been added to our gallery, so go give them a look.

Original Story:

The Darkside of Resident Evil lurches ever closer, and thanks to Capcom, we have a brand-new look at the game via this trailer from the Japan Expo:

Video Games | Resident Evil: Darkside Chronicles | Japan Expo TrailerXBox 360 | Playstation 3 | Nintendo Wii

Interesting to note, it seems that there are alternate outfits included in this game-- well, sort of. Just after the 2:20 mark, you'll notice that Claire's jacket/vest is missing. Might be interesting if damage taken in-game plays a part in such details.

On another note, I'm still hoping we get the first non-cell phone game version of the events in Degeneration here. Though I'll admit, faith that such a concept will come to be here is beginning to waiver.

Hit the cut for more.

REVIEW: The Conduit is the Wii Version of Perfect Dark

What The Game's About
The day has finally come for gamers to get their hands on The Conduit. After being teased with footage, screens, and tons of media releases, we gamers will finally be able to see the first Wii offering from High Voltage. Claiming to offer 360 visuals and a true FPS experience unlike anything released on Wii before, High Voltage had a goal to achieve and they wanted to capture that goal by using The Conduit as their flagship Wii title.

Following the generic sci-fi storyline, The Conduit follows Mr. Ford, The Trust, and the mysterious Prometheus through a series of conspiratorial events and happenings. Mr. Ford will traverse all throughout Washington, D.C. and partake in numerous firefights and puzzles as he learns the truth about the origins of the alien species known as the Drudge.

What's Hot
The Conduit had a lot of hype around it and High Voltage pumped a lot of the hype out by their hand. The main thing they spouted time and time again was the graphics engine. They felt that developers weren't utilizing the Wii hardware to the max potential and they sought to fix this situation. Sporting vibrant visuals and detailed character models, The Conduit is one of the best looking games on Wii thus far.

GameStop's Summer Wii Bundles Make You Want Another Wii

Well, it's summer, and we gamers aren't known for our high tolerance for the harsh rays of the sun. I'm sitting next to an open window and I may burst into flames at any moment. But GameStop has you covered: for a limited time only, you can get a free water gun with the purchase of a new Wii!

What's that? Are water guns just a little bit too violent for you? How about a rubber ducky? Or maybe this totally badass pirate tattoo sleeve? Neither of these will help keep you cool, but let's face it: a rubber duck is a man's best friend, and chicks dig tattoos.

Seriously, though, is this what GameStop thinks of Wii owners? It would almost be offensive if it wasn't so hilarious.

Nintendo Finances British Game Show

Nintendo is set to fund its own TV show starting in October. Britain's Best Brain will be fully financed by Nintendo, under the agreement that Nintendo can advertise the Nintendo DS on the program. The show will tape eight one hour episodes which have contestants using memory, coordination, numeracy, recognition and risk assessment. Any of those tasks sounds familiar? Possibly related to a Nintendo game?

Hit the jump for what Nintendo can't do during the it's new show.

Well, Shigeru Miyamoto is one developer that has decided to take the high-road, even when talking about the upcoming Zelda on the Wii.

Suda: Developing No More Heroes 2 is 'Like Taking a $#!%'

When it comes to Grasshopper Manufacture's CEO Goichi Suda, you can never quite be sure what you're going to get. Not even if you're his translator, as a recent interview with Edge Magazine reveals.

"A lot of things influenced No More Heroes - things I saw, or heard, and something that came from inside. Something that needed to be eliminated from my body, like waste. That's why I created No More Heroes," he explains, much to the amusement of his colleagues and the bewilderment of his translator, who simply produces the stunted phrase "...No More Heroes 2? New taking-a-s#!%."

See what other insights he has to offer into the world of Travis Touchdown and his Desperate Struggle, after the cut.

SEGA Says It's Not "Game Over" for Wii's Mature Titles

While many a game's sales are often judged at its release, firing off like a bottle-rocket and culminating in a brilliant explosion in the night sky, followed by a crackling trickle of sparks raining down in what is viewed as the best scenarios, SEGA's recent Mature offerings for the Nintendo Wii have not taken that path. And for them? That's just fine.

House of the Dead: Overkill, for example, did nothing to light up the night upon its release. However, SEGA says that the game's sales at a lower price point have proven the venture to be a profitable one for the company. As a result, this leaves the House of Hedgehog willing to continue its experimentation and defy the more commonly-perceived demographic of Nintendo's little white box.

Random Videos of the Day: Super Mario Fruit Snacks Rap

I have endured many a Nintendo-related tune in my time upon this Earth, from the opening to "The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!" to the Nintendo Cereal System, and I enjoyed them. Sometimes I still find myself humming them to this day...

...okay, fine. Sometimes I sing them out loud, if no one is in earshot. Happy now? I guess I should even concede to developing a fondness for the DK Rap-- but only the Super Smash Bros. Melee version.

With all that in mind, I lasted about 17 seconds with this:

But wait, there's more! GameSetWatch has two more such videos from YouTube, one of which even features some costumed Mario mascots from a Nintendo Powerfest event. I remember wanting to go to that thing so badly as a kid... sigh.

Nonetheless, the costumes themselves are something to behold. If you've seen the modern version, then you know it looks pretty close to the games. But check out what we had to make do with in the 80's!

...and I still wanted to meet him.

Brütal Legend for Wii on Receiving End of Double-Rumor Super-Combo

...or should that be "Super-Kombo?" Working here, I just get so confused sometimes, you know?

But seriously. Remember that rumor which said that Brütal Legend would be coming to the Wii, albeit not from Tim Schafer's Double Fine? Well, now there is another rumor to stack on top of that rumor, and it doesn't bode terribly well for the game which was never really confirmed in the first place.

Metroid Prime Trilogy: Three Games, Three Bonuses

As we learned recently, Nintendo is doing more with Metroid Prime Trilogy than slapping two New Play Control! games on a disc with Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. They are also releasing it in a metal case with a slipcover as a special "Collector's Edition." And on top of that, GameStop is giving a special t-shirt with preorders.

But, there's more. The updated GameStop page for the game shows off a preview of the art booklet the package describes. You can find another look after the cut, plus the other bonus.
