Just a little over a week ago, Epic Games released a free version of its game development tool kit, the Unreal Development Kit (UDK). THis kit gave developers the most current version of the Unreal 3 Engine. So exactly how many downloads did the kit get?
According to Epic Games, the UDK has already had 50,000 downloads. Mark Rein, vice president of Epic Games, stated:
"We are very excited to see the uptake of UDK cross over the 50,000 mark in only one week, and we're looking forward to seeing amazing games and applications come out of it,"
Rein also said that he was "thrilled" to offer the UDK to students and schools for educational benefit.
Are any of you game developers? If so, do you plan to download / have you downloaded the Unreal Development Kit?
