For all of you Apple-haters/Microsoft-lovers out there, rejoice -- a new firmware update is now available for the Zune HD. Among firmware 4.3's many features are support for upcoming 3D games an applications, an auto-suggest feature for text input, hyperlinks in Artist bios (they link to other artists), and several minor fixes. Many Zune HD owners are reporting that both the boot time and web browser are a bit faster, too.
To get the update, simply plug the device into your computer, open the Zune sofrware, go to "settings," and find "player update" under the "device" tab. If the software reports that the firmware is up to date while running 4.1, don't worry -- there is a workaround. On your PC, hit the start button, go to control panel, find your regional settings, and change your current location from United States to Canada.
So what exactly does this update mean? It's basically preparing the device for the array of full 3D games coming soon, particularly Audiosurf Tilt, Project Gotham Racing: Ferrari Edition, and Vans Sk8: Pool Service. Expect these to be available later this month.
