Fans of the guilty-pleasure-riffic Resident Evil films can rejoice today, as Sony Pictures and Screen Gems has officially announced the...erm...already announced fifth film, Resident Evil: Afterlife. Set for release in theaters in the fall of 2010, the movie will be filmed in Toronto, Ontario and will be the first in the franchise filmed in 3D. Afterlife will also bring Paul W. S. Anderson back to the director's chair, along with new spouse Milla Jovovich as main heroine Alice. Ali Larter (Claire Redfield), and Spencer Locke (K-Mart) will return from the previous film as well, with Shawn Roberts taking over for Jason O'Mara in the role of Albert Wesker, and Boris Kodjoe in an unnamed role.
However, the biggest casting of all is Wentworth Miller, best-known for his role in the acclaimed Fox drama Prison Break, as legendary RE character and film franchise newcomer Chris Redfield. Wentworth certainly looks the part, but here's hoping he hits the gym - he's got a long way to go before he can match Chris's ridiculous physique.
