Alexey Pajitnov Is Better Than Miyamoto
Blocks are better than Mario...

I can bet my car that most of you who are reading this do not know who Pajitnov is. I don't blame you either, because I just recently found out simply because I'm as curious as your neighborhood cat. He, like Miyamoto, created a very, very good game, but unlike Miyamoto he is not wildly acknowledged for his incredible achievement. You probably own at least one of the many versions or have at least played it. The game's concept in itself if very basic: 6 differently shaped blocks in which you have to align. That's right – A. Pajitnov is the mastermind behind Tetris.
I own six (SIX!) versions of Tetris – Tetris (NES and Gameboy), Tetris DS (Nintendo DS), iPod Tetris (err... iPod), Tetris Mobile (cell phone) and Tetris Party (Nintendo Wii). Tetris DS was played almost religiously back in 2005 when it was released and its online multiplayer is simply addicting. Every chance I get -- especially during those ultra-boring lectures at university -- I pop out my iPod and play Tetris on it. Just before I go to bed, I have the vice to boot up the Wii and have a go online on Tetris Party. I must be one of the many infected by Tetrisitis. Some more than others. Below is a serious case of the aforementioned illness.
Sarcasm aside I still cannot beat my girlfriend, even after all these years of playing Tetris! There are those rare instances when she mistakenly misplaces one block which and eventually loses or when I get those good items in Tetris Party but overall she is leagues ahead of me. I can beat the most complicated RPG yet I can't beat my missus on Tetris!
Anyone who doesn't own any version of Tetris and owns a Wii I urge you to get Tetris Party; highly recommend it.
When was the last time YOU played a game of Tetris?
