I know we don't make a habit of posting about PC games, but this I just could not resist. Everyone's favorite foul mouthed leading man, Ozzy Osbourne, has been recruited to battle the "Prince of Darkness" in the newest World of Warcraft expansion pack, Wrath of the Lich King. What transpires while shooting the ad is nothing short of brilliant.
Whoever is attempting to argue with poor Ozzy, is fighting a losing battle to be sure. To add insult to injury, they end up having to subtitle the frequently unintelligible star. By the time the shoot is finished he looks like a disoriented infant who just had his Binky taken away. But in true Ozzy fashion, he manages to patch up the awkward situation with some words of tender loving obscenity.
When you are using Mini-Me and Mr. T for spokespeople, you might want to reconsider the target audience of your marketing campaign. With the addition of Ozzy, it looks certainly looks as if Activision is scraping the bottom of the barrel. Personally, I think that these "celebrity" endorsements need to end altogether. It is just getting embarrassing for all parties involved and lets face it, does World of Warcraft really need any more subscribers?
