Leak Round-up: Tons of Games Rumored, Details Inside
June 16, 2008 | 12:14 PM PST
Does anyone remember Tick and the Night of a Million-Zillion Ninjas? Well, here comes a million-zillion rumors!
But you've seen some already with Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2, Microsoft's Avatars, Guitar Hero: World Tour, and Forza.
And since more are coming, I thought it'd be good to preface with what Microsoft and the marketing firm behind it all, Intellisponse, had to say to Kotaku on the matter:
"It is our policy that we do not comment on rumor or speculation," said spokesperson Elizabeth McCrocklin. Natch. Microsoft said the same thing.
Of course, when faced with the fact that info was leaked and it's not mere speculation, they just shut up entirely.
Kotaku notes the following:
Intellisponse is a market research firm that partners with companies to help them conduct surveys and glean intelligence for their upcoming products and concepts. It also hosts a survey platform to help its clients conduct market research. It isn't certain just how actual any of the leaked products are - the leaks came from some of these surveys, so it's entirely possible that they're merely theoretical concepts for the purpose of gauging reaction and testing out the market.
And without further ado, here they are!

Fairly regular stuff so far. Then we get to the Tony Hawk portion. That's right: Portion.

...three Tony Hawk games? And what's weird is that the first one says Xbox 360/PS3, but refers to something that sounds like it'd be a good fit for the Wii Balance Board.
But if you thought that was bad...

Ok, so three Tony Hawks in the queue? That's a little believable. A second Clone Saga's worth of Spider-man titles? Well, we all know he's a sellout, anyway. But here's where the belief of these all each being legitimate projects starts to fall apart:

...six Powers and Titans titles? This is the point where came to believe, beyond the shadow of a doubt, that these are all just ideas being pitched by the company in question. Unless I'm mistaken, P&T is an unreleased, unproven concept, and I can't imagine they'd be expecting six titles out of it so quickly. And that casts a dubious light on the rest.
Other stuff that's come from the source, sans the imagery seen above, are:
- "Racing Equity," a "next-gen" racing game that's focused around a rebellious counter culture scene," and is built upon the notion that "spontaenously and without warning, people turn up en masse and transform city centers into impromptu tracks. Roads get blocked off and the race takes place."
- "Trioxide," a program which introduces "the ability to play the latest console games (ie Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, etc) on your PC."
- And to go with the reports of the Microsoft Avatars is this tidbit about a sort of "game show channel" for Xbox Live. The "SBG Channel" is said to feature "'concepts' in the 'Trivia, Reality TV, Puzzles and Sports' genres with live events and plans to feature real-world and virtual prizes."
...whew!
