Rumor: Mortal Kombat vs. DC to Contain "No Fatalities and Little-to-No Blood"

According to Kotaku, the rumored Mortal Kombat vs. DC title will feature no blood or over-the-top violence. The blog was tipped off by a former Midway employee, who said that Mortal Kombat vs. DC will feature "no fatalities and little-to-no blood."

If this is true, something's wrong. Shouldn't Mortal Kombat games contain, you know, blood? A Mortal Kombat with no fatalities? What's the world coming to?
